No matter what your trying to sell online, you need to show a interest in Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
The theory behind SEO, seems easy enough, but in practice it can be quite difficult.
I recommend everyone with the responsibility for a website to learn about SEO!
The list below was made to help you remember the many important elements of SEO. This is not a complete list, but eventually I hope it will be. In time I will elaborate further, by writing articles about the different elements!
Intern (Onpage)
- Domain name (Could be the single most important thing of SEO)
- Webdesign (If its ugly, its not trustworthy, people will seek their information else where).
- Cannonicalization (URL) You need to make sure, all your link juice is not split into different versions of the same URL.
- Robots.txt (Disallow anything not related to content).
- Sitemap.xml (Link to every content page on your website)
- Categories. Structure is extreemly important, make sure, theres a link to every subcategory on the website.
Content (Content and landingpages)
- Relevant and Popular Content (Does your content meet a demand? Then it should be no problem getting traffic to your site).
Every page should have unique META tags. (Title and Description, no need to fill in keywords).
Extern SEO and linkbuilding
- Link building (Don't use link farms). Concentrate on getting quality links, from relevant sites!
Google search queries
The following, can be used in googles search, example: site:danieldue.dk, will return all my domains indexed pages!
- cache: (Try using this search and select "text only" then you will see what google see).
- site: (Returns all pages indexed with that domain).
- inurl: (Must be in URL).
- intitle: (Must be in title).
- + (Only what i search for).
- - (Omit what comes after this).
- | (Or).
